"I have never had the opportunity to talk, or even think about myself in this way and I certainly haven’t used art materials!  I have been really surprised at both aspects of this way of working"

"I feel better when I’m painting – somehow it has given me inner strength to face a lot of uncertainty and although outward circumstances haven't changed I feel inwardly I have, and that has helped "

Experience

I trained as a social worker, working first in a hospital and then as a community social worker in North London.  I later studied for a Visual Art Degree and then worked using art in many different settings within Mental Health Services.

I used art in therapeutic groups for adults, those with dementia, and those with profound learning difficulties, younger adults and with schoolchildren, including Looked After Children projects.  As an art psychotherapist I have worked with young children in a school in Hackney, with adults with life threatening illnesses in a London Hospice, in an Oncology Department in a major London teaching hospital and in the Respiratory Unit at St Mary’s Hospital, Isle of Wight.

My own art practice includes 3D and 2D work – painting, life drawing, monoprints and linocuts, sculptural papier mache and silk batik.
